This is a visually stunning book in a whimsically childish way but the plot and rhyme scheme made me cringe a little bit at the thought of gifting it. I'm a BIG fan of Megan Hess' work so I have had this on my wish list since she posted about it on Instagram. My niece is about to turn 5 so I finally had the perfect reason (read: excuse) to buy it for my unicorn, purse, and tutu loving mini girlfriend. In reading it just now, I'm glad I strictly bought it for the fashion. Some of the rhymes are a big stretch and the plot feels very uneventful and uninspiring. I was hoping Claris would explore more beautiful sights in Paris and change into at least 2 other adorable outfits, sadly that was not the case. Ultimately I think the book is cute for tiny fashion lovers and or kids who are just learning how to read, if neither of those applies to your gift recipient then I would recommend choosing something that's more entertaining.
I LOVE Megan Hess and I own ALL of her books but her first children’s book CLARIS is OVER THE TOP and a MUST book for any girl baby shower gift or any little girl that loves dressing up and is fashionable!! I plan to send it to my niece’s three daughters! 💓💓💓
The illustrations in this book are to die for! It is the perfect all-things girly book. My daughter loves accessories and all things pink and this book does not disappoint. Love the gold edged pages too, gives it a little something extra. The book itself is beautiful and I love that it is a hardcover without the book jacket. They always get destroyed quickly. The story is so sweet and I know it will be a much loved favorite in our house for years to come. I hope Megan Hess writes more children's books and soon! Maybe Claris could go to NY Fashion Week? A girl can dream...
Cute book but the book arrived damaged :( The other books that I ordered in the box are fine...not worth the trouble to return but disappointed...
