I purchased this book hoping to get clarification on some of the many ambiguities of E/M coding. Unfortunately, it did not address any of these. In fact, it would not even serve as a basic guide to E/M coding.Instead, the book describes the author's unique style of medical record documentation (which he calls the "Intelligent Medical Record") and the way that this type of record lends itself to E/M coding. Unless you are a practice owner who is interested in changing your practice's record documentation style (and assuming you aren't locked into whatever style your EMR system churns out), this could be a valuable guide to making such a change. For medical coders, though, I do not see any usefulness.
