Entre suspiro y suspiro me quedé con un dulce sabor a miel de naranjo y un agradable aroma a azahar. Despertó todos mis sentidos, mi mente y mi corazón. He terminado de leerlo y no dejo de suspirar por la lectura …y por mi infancia ...y la de mis antepasados.Qué manera de narrar!Eres grande SofÃa Segovia!BellÃsimo!Si a usted le gustó "Como agua para chocolate" y "La casa de los espÃritus" le recomiendo este libro.
This book was entertaining and gripping at times, but the magic realism that other Latin American writers have handled so well, in this case was not convincing enough. The evil character in the story was well described and always threatening and hateful, however Simonopio the main character of the story was poorly defined . I assumed he had a congenital malformation most likely cleft palate and hare lip which made his speech un intelligible, but these facts are not clear in the story.The civil war in Mexico and the Influenza epidemic are well described and good additions to the book. In summary entertaining book but I am unable to recommend without reservations.
Probablemente mi nuevo libro favorito. Me tuvo llorando a mares en diferentes puntos, disfrutando sabores y olores como si estuviera ahÃ. Amando personajes y odiando con el alma otros. Hermoso relato con personajes mágicos y personajes tan reales que pierdes la lÃnea entre unos y otros. No podia dejar de leer hasta terminar y al mismo tiempo no querÃa que terminara. Me dejo con un desgaste emocional delicioso que me está costando agarrar otro libro porque no tengo la fiereza emocional para entrrgasrsela a otro libro aún después de haberle dado tanto a este.
Read this for a book reading group and we all were able to pick out numerous passages that were so eloquently written that it might bring tears to your eyes or make you laugh out loud. Details are fascinating in the historical sense as well. I'll be recommending it to others!
Una novela de ficción donde las tradiciones, las emociones y la historia se entretejen de modo que el lector se vuelve parte de ese tejido, del tejido de la vida, del amor, la lealtad, la contemplación y todos los estambres que nos da la vida se entrelazan de manera poética y atemporal. Lo único que a veces me parecÃa es un poco de repeticiones que le quitaban potencia a frases que una sola vez eran ya poderosas.
I loved reading it. If it doen't reach the peaks of tha magic realism , it has peaks that explode and nearly reach this level. Sinonopio is the person where the story evolves and it is an enigma from his birth until his dissapearance. And the bees , being a very important part of the story leave the uncanny feeling in the relationship they have with the Sinonopio. As the author explains, imagination is a permission writers have to write to develop in real life situations as the agrarian reform in Mexico and its implications to the families involved.
Wow! Cuanto disfruté este libro! Me encantó la redacción, la forma fluida y la descripción de los personajes. Me gustó la ternura de una verdadera amistad, y la descripción de las relaciones entre familiares, conocidos, empleados y parientes. Aunque toma lugar en Linares, esta historia pudo haber tomado lugar en cualquiera de los pueblos rurales en Latinoamerica. Asà que aunque no soy de México, me identifico. Felicitaciones a la autora y que continuen sus historias!
No solo cubrio mis expectativas sino que las supero por mucho. Hermosa novela. Inspiradora donde se palpaEl amor incondicional en altas escalas. El concepto de la familia en su maxima expression. Y desafortunadamentela maldad y como corroe el alma de quien la padece.
